**Saskatchewan Beekeeping Industry - Cost of Production Study**

The study found:

- The overall cost of production in 2015 varied from $1.05 to $1.88 per pound of honey produced.
- The average overall cost of production in 2015 was $1.48 with a standard deviation of $0.32 per pound of honey produced.
- The average total cost of operating a colony in 2015 was $471.38 with a standard deviation of $130.61.
- The cash costs (all costs except non-arms length wages and depreciation) of operating a colony in 2015 was $1.26 with a standard deviation of $0.26 per pound of honey produced.
- The average income per beekeeper for 2015 was $899,059.16 with a standard deviation of $367,165.63.
- The average net profit per beekeeper in 2015 was $14,348.40 with a standard deviation of $204,697.49.
- The biggest expenses were wages, amortization/depreciation and feed at $0.53 per pound, $0.15 per pound and $0.10 per pound respectively.

Notes: Please note that the standard deviations are large and that these numbers are from a study of 8 beekeepers.
