The SBDC Board held a scheduled meeting via zoom last night. Among the topics discussed at that meeting was the 2021 Field Day. After significant discussion on the issue, we regret to announce that the board voted unanimously to cancel the regularly scheduled Field Day for 2021. Although vaccination efforts are continuing and the province just announced its 3 phase plan to reopen and reduce restrictions over the coming months, the consensus among the board was that the uncertainty of the restrictions combined with the timing of the event – right before the harvest season starts – creates a situation where the potential risks outweigh the benefits of holding the event.
We recognize the need to stay engaged with the membership and as such we are planning to offer an online meeting during the same time frame that Field Day would typically be held. Much like previous virtual meetings, this will offer the directors the opportunity to provide updates to the members as well as provide a forum for Geoff, Graham and Medhat to present important information and updates. It will also allow the opportunity for members to engage with the board and raise issues or ask questions that they might have. Details on this meeting will be forthcoming in the near future.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact myself or any other of the board members directly.
