Temporary Foreign Workers Program Information
The Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFWP) allows Canadian employers to hire foreign nationals to fill temporary labour and skill shortages when qualified Canadian citizens or permanent residents are not available.
Covid Testing for TFW
· Saskatchewan’s position on testing for TFWs is likely the same as it is for the general public (i.e., if you have symptoms or meet one of the other criteria). They may meet the criteria of “anyone working outside the home.”
o TFWs are entitled to health benefits in Saskatchewan from the day that their work permit is valid. In this case, the government may cover the costs if the criteria for testing is met: https://www.saskatchewan.ca/government/health-care-administration-and-provider-resources/treatment-procedures-and-guidelines/emerging-public-health-issues/2019-novel-coronavirus/testing-information
· If employers are asking whether they should have their TFWs tested, please contact the 811 line or COVID19@health.gov.sk.ca.
